Regenerative Earth Design proudly serves the Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC region. We provide regenerative civil engineering design services and consult/design on various sustainable living subjects.
Jonathan Castellano, P.E.
Owner/Consultant/Designer
Jonathan is an avid gardener and budding permaculture farmer. He leads by example and through his experiences is able to provide confirmation to others about living a responsible and healthy lifestyle. He maintains multiple garden plots in Loudoun and Fairfax County, as well as an integrated fruit and nut orchard that utilizes passive irrigation techniques.
Jonathan has obtained a certification in permaculture design which focuses on integrating human settlement with the surrounding environment. This system of design has an emphasis on providing functional relationships and synergies, and on integrative ecological design principles. As such Jonathan is capable of providing a multidisciplinary approach to sustainable engineering design concepts and principles, and is a valuable team member for ecosystem restoration or sustainable development projects.
Jonathan's educational background is in civil engineering with a bachelors of science in civil engineering and a masters of engineering in geotechnical, construction, and structural engineering. He is presently capable of providing consultation and design on topics of geotechnical, structural, construction, water resources and more. He is skilled at conducting feasibility analysis and providing valuable civil engineering related insight at the onset of a project. With an interest in whole system design and integrating ecology into the design process, he is able to provide guidance on natural building and homestead projects, yield studies for land development, ecosystem restoration, low impact development, and design for sustainable stormwater management, and more.
He is a Professional Engineer (PE) and has professional experience in the green building and renewable energy fields with a focus on consulting and feasibility analysis. He has conducted site evaluations and studied building and energy systems in an effort to reduce energy and water usage and provide increased energy efficiency. This includes heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) , photovoltaic (PV) solar, solar thermal, and LED lighting. Jonathan has accumulated knowledge of our public infrastructure and agricultural systems such as systems for water supply, wastwater treatment, stormwater management, solid waste, flood control, transportation along with the corresponding interactions with the natural environment. With this knowledge he is developing a new regenerative model for our local communities that requires a multidisciplinary design approach and community participation.
*As the business grows we will be looking for additional partners to be part of a multidisciplinary design team. Please contact us if you would like to become a partner or to be considered for a position as the company grows. We will keep your information on file and reach out to you when the time is right.
